Other Ways to Help
While monetary donations are always appreciated, there are plenty of other ways to help Concord Housing Foundation in our mission to improve housing diversity in Concord.
Help us Find Homes
Could this building be preserved as an affordable home?
If you believe housing in Concord should be available and affordable for households with a variety of incomes, you can help us identify properties before they are snapped up by developers for a “tear down.” Perhaps the owner would be willing to donate the house, or sell at a discount if affordability is guaranteed. Let us know, if possible, before the house goes on the market. In partnership with CHDC and/or the Concord Housing Authority, using monies from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund and our own and other resources, the property could be acquired and renovated, and resold or rented to qualifying families.
Participate in Town Meetings
Concord Town Meeting is an extraordinary deliberative body. If you support affordable housing in our town, read the Town Meeting warrant and attend Town Meeting. Almost every year, Town Meeting considers regulations and initiatives which affect the supply of affordable housing. Changes in our zoning code, funding initiatives like the permit fee and transfer tax, as well as the proper use of Town owned land, all influence the kinds of housing available in Concord. The CHF News section of the web site will flag the issues of importance to be considered at Town Meeting each year. Please read these notices, review the Town Meeting warrant, show up at Town meeting, speak up and vote.
Talk About Affordable Housing
If you care about living in a vibrant community accessible to those with different incomes, join the growing conversation about affordable housing. Tell your neighbors and friends about the actions pending at Town Meeting. Write letters to the editor of The Concord Bridge. Your participation can make housing affordability an important issue in Concord.
